U.S. President Donald Trump is set to travel to Ireland next week aboard a Boeing 747 jet donated by Qatar, marking his first international trip since security issues caused him to leave Turkey on a different plane. The Washington Post initially reported this information.
In July, Trump left the NATO summit in Turkey on a smaller military aircraft due to escalating tensions with Iran, making the switch discreetly with the help of a catering truck for deception purposes.
Concerns regarding the security of the modified Qatari jet have been raised. In July, Trump announced plans to enhance the aircraft’s security features, indicating that upgrades would begin soon. However, no official timeline has been provided.
A senior administration official emphasized that specific upgrades to Air Force One are not publicly detailed, stressing the importance of maintaining a secure capability for the President.
During his visit to Ireland on September 12 and 13, Trump is expected to attend the Irish Open at his golf course and meet with Irish officials. He also plans to participate in a Republican midterm convention in Texas and campaign for candidates in key battleground states ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
