Sacramento Business Owner Urges Action After Arrest of Burglary Suspect
A Sacramento man has been arrested in connection with multiple business burglaries, prompting local business owner Renee Joneck to call for improved communication and support from city officials.
Joneck, who owns Joneck’s Wine Lounge, expressed relief after the arrest of 46-year-old Darrell Buckner, believed to be involved in five of these crimes. However, she emphasized the need for better protective measures for local businesses, saying, “It’s a weird violation of watching somebody in your space, in your home. I built this; it feels like my baby.”
Buckner faces multiple counts of burglary and has also been charged with possession of narcotics. Police are investigating whether he is linked to five additional burglaries in the Midtown area.
In her frustration, Joneck pointed out the lack of communication from city officials, stating that no one from local organizations or the police department reached out after the burglary. She urged for transparency and effective dialogue between city officials and businesses.
In response to concerns about crime prevention, police spokesperson Anthony Gamble mentioned a strategy involving increased patrols to deter criminal activities.
While her business remains temporarily closed due to the burglary, Joneck’s call for better coordination and information-sharing highlights the growing concerns among Sacramento business owners regarding safety and support from local government.
City leaders have referred queries about Joneck’s concerns to the police department without additional comments.
