Civ 7 Free Weekend and Updates
As Labor Day weekend approaches in Canada and the US, Civilization 7 is currently available to play for free on Steam until September 10. Released in early 2025, the game faced initial criticism for its UI changes and performance issues, resulting in a mixed reception from players.
Firaxis has been actively updating the game, and a key update in May significantly increased its player count. However, user reviews on Steam are split, with only 48% positive ratings, showing some players still prefer the older Civilization 5.
Despite mixed reviews, the free access allows players to try before they buy, with standard and deluxe editions available at half price until September 17.
