Construction set to start on entertainment center and arena in Forsyth County, according to developer.

New Entertainment District Planned for Forsyth County

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A substantial $3 billion entertainment district aiming to attract an NHL team to Forsyth County is set to kick off site work next week. Krause Sports and Entertainment announced that excavation and grading work will commence on September 7, targeting over 90 acres for The Gathering at South Forsyth.

The initial site work is expected to last five months, followed by utility and electrical installations, with construction projected to start in summer 2027. Supporters believe the proposed 700,000-square-foot arena could like a professional hockey team to the area.

Krause Sports and Entertainment expressed confidence in the project’s potential, citing committed ownership, community backing, and the underserved market in the area. They reiterated their dedication to ongoing investment and progress.

While there is great optimism, the NHL has yet to confirm the awarding of an expansion or relocated franchise to Georgia. Meanwhile, another pursuit for an NHL team is ongoing in Alpharetta.
