Costanza Sausage Faces Weather Challenges but Keeps Doors Open
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Costanza Sausage in Webster is back on track following severe weather that caused power outages. Despite concerns from both owner Scott Kent and customers about securing their bacon and sausage, the shop managed to keep operating.
Kent noted the outage disrupted phone communications, leading to a flood of emails and Facebook messages from worried customers. “Labor Day weekend is one of our Super Bowls of the sausage world,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of staying open during peak times.
Fortunately, with a backup generator, Costanza Sausage resumed operations, much to the relief of loyal customers like Dan Dipple. “They do it the best, and if they’re not open, then I’m gonna wait until they are,” he said.
As RG&E worked on restoring power, both staff and patrons were thankful the damage wasn’t more significant. Kent acknowledged the stressful situation but remained optimistic, stating, “There’s always an answer to problems.”
Customer Dipple described the severe storm, noting it was the most intense thunderstorm he had experienced all summer. Fortunately, Costanza Sausage is now back to normal operations.
