The event, scheduled for November 14, 2026, will benefit Dallas Hope Charities, a local LGBTQ+ youth organization.
Fan support has been robust, with donations of tickets and jerseys for charity, as well as offers from local drag queens to perform and venues to host afterparties. The issue has drawn attention to the ongoing conversation about LGBTQ+ representation in professional sports, particularly following controversies around Pride events in various leagues.
Copeland emphasized the importance of continuing to celebrate queer fans, stating, “We’re always going to be here as queer fans. They’re not going to scare us away.” The Carolina Hurricanes have also reached out for advice on hosting their own LGBTQ+ appreciation events.
