Johnstown Central Park Reopens After Renovations; Local Businesses See Rise in Visitors

Johnstown’s Central Park Grand Reopening

Johnstown’s newly renovated Central Park is officially open to the public, and local business owners are seeing a positive impact. With the fencing now removed, foot traffic has increased, leading to more customers in surrounding shops.

City Manager Art Martynuska highlighted the park’s improvements, including better lighting and a larger pavilion, aimed at creating a more enjoyable experience for visitors. Martynuska also addressed concerns about the park’s statues, confirming that all monuments, except one cannon, have been restored and are accompanied by new informational signage.

George Heit, the owner of Roots Kitchen and Juicery, expressed satisfaction with the restoration efforts, noting that the overall results are impressive despite the missing cannon, which is not a battle relic.

The grand reopening festivities for Central Park are set to take place on Saturday, the 19th, starting at noon.
