Goliad, Texas – An 18-wheeler hauling a load of pipe ran off the roadway and struck power lines, causing outages for parts of Goliad.

Details of the Incident:

  • Location: Intersection of Highway 183 and Ward St.
  • Impact: Approximately 1,000 residents, including Goliad High School, lost power.
  • School Operations: The district has confirmed that campuses will continue normal operations with modifications to traffic flow. However, all non-athletic after-school events and practices are canceled for Wednesday afternoon.
  • Injuries: The driver sustained injuries and has been transported to a hospital.

Utility crews from AEP are currently working to restore power, alongside authorities from the DPS and the Texas Department of Emergency Management who are present at the scene.
