Trust and Privacy Issues Hinder AI Implementation in Business Travel

The recent FCM Travel Singapore Summit spotlighted trust and data privacy as significant barriers to adopting AI in managed business travel. In a live poll, 52% of attendees pointed to data privacy concerns, while 47% were worried about the accuracy of AI-generated information.

Under the theme “Intelligence that Travels,” discussions centered on integrating technology, data, and human expertise for a responsible AI adoption. FCM emphasized that building confidence in AI requires trusted data, clear governance, and human accountability.

Vicki Parris, managing director of FCM Travel Asia, noted that the expectations of managed travel have evolved beyond just rate negotiations and efficiency.

FCM showcased its AI platform, Sam, which links traveller profiles and real-time data, facilitating seamless interactions between technology and support teams. Prabu Sangar, director of technology operations, highlighted the need for trust to be embedded in AI systems from the outset, with governance woven into workflows for effective human intervention when necessary.
