Telesat Explores Space-to-Ground Optical Communication in Collaboration with Cailabs

Telesat is exploring a strategic collaboration with Cailabs to integrate space-to-ground optical communications for U.S. government and allied missions through Telesat Lightspeed. Cailabs, a French photonics startup, specializes in building optical ground stations and has previously demonstrated connectivity with Telesat’s SCOT80 terminals. The partnership aims to conduct joint studies and demonstrations, focusing on services such as space data relay. Chuck Cynamon, president of Telesat Government Solutions, emphasized the need for secure, resilient communications architectures that meet the specific requirements of government operations.
