JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Public Library System is celebrating Library Card Sign-up Month this September with an exciting discount program called “Community Connections.” This initiative connects library cardholders to over 115 local businesses, offering exclusive deals throughout the month.

Program Highlights

  • Initial Launch: The program debuted in 2024 with 34 partner businesses and has expanded significantly this year.
  • Community Support: Alex Barr, the community engagement coordinator for SJCPLS, emphasizes the collaboration between local businesses and the library as a vital part of community support.

“This program highlights the power of collaboration in our community,” said Barr.

Benefits of a Library Card

SJCPLS Director Debra Rhodes Gibson highlighted that a library card provides value that extends beyond borrowing materials:

“The library card is the smartest card in your wallet all year long.”

Library cards offer:

  • Free access for St. Johns County residents
  • A variety of materials including bestsellers, DVDs, and audiobooks
  • 24/7 access to the SJCPLS eLibrary

Through the eLibrary, cardholders can:
