Jumpgate AB has partnered with German publisher Daedalic Entertainment to develop a new major strategy game for PC and consoles, tentatively titled “Galactic Exploration.” The project boasts a development budget of around SEK 26.7 million (EUR 2.4 million), fully financed through Daedalic and public funding in Germany, with a target release scheduled for 2027/2028.
The development will be conducted by Jumpgate’s studio gameXcite in Germany. Of the total budget, approximately EUR 1.3 million will come from Daedalic and around EUR 1.1 million from the German games funding program. Funding will be disbursed upon the achievement of specific project milestones, which aims to mitigate financial risk for Jumpgate while allowing for potential revenue sharing.
Patrick Streppel, Studio Head of gameXcite, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, referencing their successful past project, “Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown,” and highlighting the strategic importance of securing external funding. Carsten Fichtelmann, CEO of Daedalic Entertainment, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the strength of their partnership and their shared commitment to developing quality games.
