Halle Berry has publicly responded to accusations from her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, who alleged that she physically abused their 12-year-old son, Maceo. Martinez was granted a restraining order against Berry, which has led to heightened scrutiny of their co-parenting arrangement.
Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, dismissed Martinez’s allegations as “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading,” while highlighting concerns about his behavior, including allegations of violating court orders and interfering with their son’s therapeutic interventions. Beck characterized Martinez’s actions as part of a long history of erratic and possessive behavior, expressing Berry’s commitment to Maceo’s well-being despite the challenges.
The court ordered Berry not to contact Martinez or their son outside of an existing split-custody agreement, modifying her visitation to specific days and hours. The couple married in 2013 and finalized their divorce in 2023, including a child support arrangement.
Martinez’s request for a domestic violence restraining order was based on an alleged incident and previous comments Berry made regarding financial issues. The judge denied additional requests for sobriety testing for Berry during her visitation pending further hearings.
Berry, an advocate against domestic violence, has shared her own experiences related to the issue and has volunteered with organizations dedicated to preventing domestic abuse.
