FairPrice Foundation Supports Low-Income Youth with Nutritional Program
SINGAPORE – From July 31 to August 31, 4,500 youths aged 12 to 18 will receive coupons for free protein drinks at select Cheers outlets as part of an initiative to support the nutritional needs of vulnerable groups.
This initiative is part of the FairPrice Foundation’s ongoing efforts to uplift communities by improving access to nutrition and essential items. The beneficiaries are youths from low-income families, identified in collaboration with various self-help organizations, including the Chinese Development Assistance Council and the Singapore Indian Development Association.
The program will span 44 Cheers locations across Singapore. Jean Khong, the general manager of FairPrice Foundation, expressed hopes that “every youth in Singapore gets the nutrition they need to grow and thrive.”
Karen Ong, general manager of Cheers, emphasized the store’s commitment to providing a convenient, healthy option for youths in their neighborhoods, facilitating their well-being both inside and outside the classroom.
Students like Pakkirisamy Inbasri, a Secondary 1 student, shared their gratitude, noting that having a protein drink helps maintain focus during lessons. Classmate Chua Jing Yi highlighted the convenience of being able to grab a drink after co-curricular activities, expressing her appreciation for the support.
FairPrice also announced that the Cheers Breakfast Club, which provides over 12,000 breakfast bundles to Primary 6 pupils ahead of the PSLE, will return for its third year in September.
