Tesla, led by Elon Musk, has become a significant player in the global market, ranking 11th among the world’s most valuable companies. Over the last decade, the stock has skyrocketed by 2,420%, turning a $10,000 investment into approximately $252,400. In comparison, an investment in an S&P 500 ETF would yield about $40,760.
This rapid growth is attributed to Tesla’s remarkable increase in electric vehicle (EV) production, going from 14,400 units in Q2 2016 to over 480,100 in Q2 2023. Revenue has also surged, from $1.3 billion to $28.2 billion in the same period.
While management envisions a future driven by self-driving technology and robotics, the stock’s current high price-to-earnings ratio of 343 suggests significant future growth is already anticipated.
