Emilia Clarke’s Brain Aneurysm
Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, faced a life-threatening challenge that she detailed in a 2019 essay in The New Yorker titled “A Battle for My Life.”
During a workout, she experienced a severe headache that led her to the restroom, where she became violently ill. It soon became evident that something was seriously wrong.
Doctors diagnosed her with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a type of stroke caused by bleeding in the brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, which required immediate surgery to seal it. Clarke vividly described the intense pain during her first surgery, along with subsequent issues like aphasia.
A week later, her aphasia subsided, and she left the hospital a month after admission. However, a follow-up scan revealed that the growth had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery, this time requiring access to her brain through her skull.
Despite the harrowing experiences and complications, Clarke expressed gratitude for her recovery, stating she is now “at a hundred percent.”
