Fortunately for us, Dame Joan has shared her insights on nutrition and fitness, along with a simple dietary tip that she considers ‘highly beneficial.’ The renowned actress recently disclosed that she consumes an avocado almost daily and takes three supplements to enhance her health. ‘I take Vitamin C, E, and omega oils,’ she mentioned. Moreover, she emphasized, ‘The quality of what you eat is as crucial as the quality of the products you use. I aim for a balanced diet.’
Interestingly, scientific research is now supporting Dame Joan’s claims. Recent studies indicate that her cherished creamy fruit offers numerous health benefits. While avocados are calorie-dense (with half an avocado containing around 161 calories), they are equally nutrient-dense, packed with vital components like fiber, potassium, folate, vitamins K and E, and magnesium. They also provide essential phytonutrients, such as beta carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, which are important for eye health.
Research suggests that regular consumption of avocados can enhance heart health and potentially offer protection against type 2 diabetes, owing to their high fiber and healthy fat content.
However, a daily avocado isn’t the only nutrition strategy that Dame Joan advocates. In an interview with Hello!, she shared that she generally skips breakfast and also steers clear of late-night snacks.
‘Never, not before I go to bed,’ she asserted. ‘I believe the body functions like a factory, requiring the right fuel. If you have a high-quality vehicle, you wouldn’t fill it with subpar fuel. I’m very selective about what I eat.’
