Two high school students from Idaho are gaining recognition across the state for developing an innovative AI system tailored for one of Idaho’s key sectors: agriculture.
Their creation, known as Helios, integrates weather and soil data to assist farmers in deciding when to irrigate their crops. This tool has the potential to minimize water usage while ensuring the health of the fields. Currently, they are collaborating with researchers from the University of Idaho and local farmers to evaluate the system in practical settings.
Henry Turcotte, co-founder and business lead of “Irrigant,” and Marco Trotta, co-founder and technical lead, recently shared insights about their project on Idaho Matters.
This initiative illustrates the innovative spirit of students in Idaho and their commitment to sustainability in agriculture. By harnessing the power of AI, Turcotte and Trotta are paving the way for a more efficient and environmentally-friendly farming approach.
