Arctic Fox Confiscated in Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, Inc. (NWR) has announced the confiscation of an Arctic fox that was being kept illegally as a pet in an Omaha home.
The fox was taken by the Nebraska Humane Society Animal Control and subsequently transferred to NWR for proper care. Arctic foxes thrive in harsh environments like the Arctic and sub-Arctic ecosystems, and are not suited to domestic life.
Upon arrival at NWR, the fox received necessary medical attention and vaccinations. However, it will not be possible to release her back into the wild as she is a captive-bred wild animal. NWR is currently providing specialized care and is seeking a long-term placement that can accommodate the unique needs of Arctic foxes.
