Trump awards prestigious US science honors to Elon Musk and other tech leaders | Donald Trump News

United States President Donald Trump recently honored notable leaders in technology by awarding them the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. Recipients included Elon Musk (SpaceX, Tesla), Sergey Brin (Google), Jensen Huang (Nvidia), Lisa Su (AMD), Michael Dell (Dell Technologies), and Satya Nadella (Microsoft). At the ceremony, Trump praised these honorees for their contributions to America, claiming they would ensure the country’s unrivaled global leadership.

Interestingly, five of the six honorees were born outside the U.S., and four rank among the world’s wealthiest individuals. The awards were presented shortly after the Trump administration suspended Microsoft’s access to the H-1B visa program due to alleged misuse of the system by the company and others.

The event reflects the growing connection between the tech sector and the Trump administration, with tech giants like Amazon and Meta supporting Trump’s inaugural efforts. The medal ceremony underscored Trump’s commitment to minimizing regulations and promoting the U.S. as a leader in artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk, a major contributor to Trump’s campaigns and briefly an adviser, received particular acclaim, being dubbed “our modern-day Thomas Edison.” Other honorees have also engaged in significant projects supporting Trump’s initiatives, highlighting a complex intertwining of business and politics in the current administration. The National Medal of Science, first awarded in 1963, recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to science.
