Ashwaubenon Students Gain Creative Space

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) — Students in Ashwaubenon now have a dedicated space to transform their ideas into reality. This new facility can be utilized for podcasts, video projects, classroom work, clubs, and after-school activities.

Jennifer Layden, the district tech coach, emphasized the importance of this space. It allows both students and staff to produce high-quality work comparable to that of the broader community. She expressed excitement about students having access to similar resources as those in other districts.

Exploring Passions

The district views technology as just one part of the opportunity offered by this new space. Leaders believe it provides a safe environment where students can explore their passions, learn new skills, and discover their voices.

Kristin Turnbull, who introduced the podcast initiative, noted that many students may not realize their potential until they see what’s possible when given the right resources. She highlighted the importance of this discovery, noting how it could lead to future careers or skills that students had never considered.

Expanding Horizons

What these explorations could lead to is vast. From potential career paths to new talents, the opportunities are endless. Turnbull also mentioned the excitement surrounding the possibility of students creating influential content, saying, “What if they become that next podcast? Even if it’s a small audience, somebody is still listening.”

The district’s goal is for students to take ownership of this space and decide what they wish to create, fostering creativity and innovation among the next generation.
