Space Force completes the transfer of its initial 250 part-time guardians.

The Space Force has successfully transitioned its first part-time guardians from the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, marking a significant step towards creating a unified military workforce. This initiative, which includes 250 former airmen, allows for flexible service options where personnel can switch between full-time and part-time roles.

The Space Force aims to integrate these part-time members with full-time troops, opposing the traditional separation of service branches. Guardians must fulfill at least 36 days of service annually, with positions subject to reevaluation every 36 months. This flexibility is designed to accommodate those balancing civilian careers and military duties, potentially attracting a diverse range of recruits.

Additionally, the Space Force is looking to expand its personnel from nearly 11,000 to around 25,000 by 2031. The service continues to accept interservice transfers until October 16, allowing active-duty members from other branches to join.
