New Community Hub: Emberlight Nexus Opens in Pocatello

POCATELLO — A fresh gathering space on South 5th Avenue, Emberlight Nexus, is now welcoming adventurers of all backgrounds to unwind, play games, or just enjoy company until 3 a.m.

Located at 2500 S. 5th Ave., Emberlight Nexus operates from Wednesday to Sunday, 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. The venue boasts 8,500 square feet of indoor space, four main rooms, and access to an outdoor area, accommodating nearly 500 guests.

The name “Emberlight” reflects a narrative by co-owner LeaAnne Poitra that symbolizes a community campfire. Poitra plans to turn this story into a Dungeons & Dragons campaign for visitors to engage in.

Together with her partner Guy Conway, Poitra emphasizes inclusivity in their business. The late hours are designed to cater to night shift workers while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for gamers, college students, families, and neurodivergent visitors.

A Space for Everyone

Admission is $10, credited towards snacks and drinks, or $30 for a monthly membership granting full access. Inside, guests can play video games, board games from a collection of over 400 titles, and borrow craft supplies without additional costs. The building offers one-gig fiber internet, making it a suitable spot for students and remote workers.

Poitra envisions a vibrant community hub where strangers can connect, using games as a bridge to break the ice. The facility will also host themed parties and role-playing sessions, replete with props created by Conway’s 3D printer.

A Vision in Action

The Emberlight Nexus idea stemmed from a Facebook group Poitra started when she struggled to find gaming partners in Mountain Home. Following their return to Pocatello, the couple secured a location after posting an ad for a gathering space.

Poitra noted the need for a late-night venue, especially for those seeking a place to relax after work. The space will feature daytime family-friendly hours, while events after 10 p.m. may have restrictions based on the nature of activities.

Future plans include opening a kitchen for hot food offerings, such as burgers, alongside coffee options for patrons. The couple envisions collaborations with local artists and organizations to enhance the creative atmosphere.

Community Focus

Rentals for private rooms are in the works, with inquiries directed toward the owners via Facebook. The venue is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for family rest.

Poitra emphasizes that the goal is not merely profit but fostering a space where individuals can find acceptance and connection.

“We want people to feel welcome,” Poitra said. “This is a place where they can enjoy themselves without judgment.”
