Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) will launch a master’s degree in biological sciences in fall 2027. This program aims to equip students with the skills to tackle complex scientific issues by blending biological knowledge with computational and analytical methods, as well as laboratory and fieldwork techniques.
Students can choose among four specialized tracks:
- Bioinformatics
- Environmental Science
- Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
- Cellular and Molecular Biology
Key Highlights:
- Hands-On Curriculum: Emphasizes practical experience through a project or thesis.
- STEM Skills Focus: Develops competencies in communication, ethics, and data analysis.
Track Descriptions:
- Bioinformatics: Involves computational data analysis, with courses on genomics, proteomics, machine learning, and more.
- Cellular and Molecular Biology: Concentrates on cell function mechanisms, genetic analysis, and microscopy.
- Ecology and Evolutionary Biology: Explores organismal interactions, conservation biology, and biodiversity.
- Environmental Science: Focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to environmental issues, incorporating fieldwork and policy.
Students will collaborate on active research and have the chance to publish papers and present at conferences. The program is co-directed by Carmody McCalley and is now accepting applications. For further information, visit the degree webpage.
