Minnesota gubernatorial hopefuls debate their business policies at Economic Club forum.

In a recent gubernatorial forum hosted by the Economic Club of Minnesota, candidates Sen. Amy Klobuchar (DFL) and Rep. Lisa Demuth (R) outlined their economic platforms. Klobuchar emphasized the need for reform in state permitting, addressing issues like housing affordability and childcare, and proposed a “top-down audit” of the state government to tackle fraud. She also advocated for stronger immigration policies to support Minnesota’s workforce.

Demuth focused on reducing crime, cutting state mandates, and enhancing the business environment. She shared her intent to streamline state programs, particularly altering systems in Paid Leave and unemployment insurance to ensure support is given to those in genuine need.

Both candidates will debate again multiple times leading up to the November 3 election, including a scheduled debate in Brainerd later this month.
