Life-Threatening Firebombing in Melbourne

A teenager is in critical condition following a firebombing incident involving two cars outside a Melbourne home early Monday morning.

Incident Details

Emergency services responded to the scene on Woolwich Way in Taylors Hill at approximately 5:12 AM. The vehicles parked in a driveway were completely engulfed in flames.

A teenage boy, found nearby with severe burns over his body, was rushed to the hospital. It’s reported that he attempted to escape in a white Hyundai Tucson, which was later discovered to be stolen from Hoppers Crossing, before crashing into bushes.

Two other individuals reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Eyewitness Accounts

A resident of the property expressed shock and anger towards the attack, stating, “You know what? You want to do that to people, and try and get away with it? That’s what happens when you play with fire. You get burned.”

A man inside the home intervened by trying to extinguish the flames with a hose until firefighters arrived.

Investigation

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the firebombing and potential links to organized crime. Detective Inspector Chris Murray highlighted the dangers that teenagers face when drawn into such serious criminal activities, stating, “Once again, we see the devastating consequences of arson and the dangers facing young people who become involved in organised crime.”

Murray warned potential offenders of the real risks involved, emphasizing that “arson isn’t worth your life.”

Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.
