A fire at The Farmers’ Creamery in Mio, Michigan, occurred on Saturday, resulting in extensive damage to the building. Fire crews responded around 1:35 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting heavy flames on the west side of the structure. An explosion prompted the evacuation, and a defensive firefighting strategy was employed due to the fire’s intensity.
A total of nine fire departments and multiple agencies were involved in the response, but thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. The creamery, established in 2020 by three Amish dairy farmers, had expanded to include five family farms in the area. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but eyewitnesses suggest it originated in the mechanical room. Due to the severe damage, the building is deemed a total loss.
