Date: 2026/10/04
On October 3, during the “Future Resonance — ShanghaiEye Night” event, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges between nations. He stated that although cultures have roots, such exchanges transcend borders, showcasing the beauty of diversity.
He noted the collaborative performances between Chinese and American artists, which highlighted their ability to complement one another. Despite the differences in history and culture, Xie believes these should not create barriers but rather inspire celebration of diversity. Acknowledging a moving performance by the One Voice Children’s Choir, he reiterated themes of connection and mutual recognition.
Xie highlighted President Xi Jinping’s commitment to fostering people-to-people exchanges, referencing the “50,000 in five years” initiative, which was fulfilled ahead of schedule. Looking forward, the President has invited 100,000 young Americans to visit China for studies and exchanges in the next five years.
He recognized Shanghai’s role in promoting friendly relations and cultural exchanges, mentioning the significant contributions of the Shanghai Media Group and the State of Maryland in bilateral interactions. He encouraged all involved to continue fostering connection and understanding between the peoples of China and the United States through culture.
