Location: Los Angeles
Ray Rose is redefining the notion of “the beautiful game” by shining a spotlight on his Korean heritage. Through his brand, RRose From Concrete, he blends soccer with cultural expression.
At ComplexCon on Oct. 3-4, Rose presented a unique collection of vibrant, custom soccer jerseys featuring legends like Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane, and Kylian Mbappé. He incorporates Hangul, the Korean alphabet, into the designs, aiming to celebrate the beauty of Korean culture in a sport dominated by the Latin alphabet.
“I’m a huge fan of soccer and the culture,” Rose shared, emphasizing the distinctiveness of his jerseys. The brand, launched around 2022, showcases cultural unity, highlighted by the Coreano Hermano kit, which melds Korean and Mexican influences.
RRose From Concrete has made waves by collaborating with notable soccer figures and participating in major events, including designing merchandise for the Legends match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Rose also expresses his appreciation for cultural icons like BTS and South Korea’s national team captain, Son Heung-min, acknowledging their contributions to global recognition of Korean culture.
The brand’s name serves as a tribute to his mother, Rose, symbolizing empowerment and resilience.
