Monday Joy: White Rhinos Reintroduced at Victoria Falls Reserve

Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Hotel in Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve has welcomed its first white rhinos alongside the already resident black rhinos. This successful translocation was executed by the Zimbabwe Parks & Wildlife Management Authority and Lake Kyle Recreational Park.

Since 2006, the reserve has operated an intensive protection zone for rhinos. Reserve Manager Picket Chabwedzeka emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating it reflects the success of dedicated conservation efforts in Zimbabwe.

To celebrate this achievement, the hotel has introduced the Rhino Guardian Game Drive, a three- to four-hour private experience that includes rhino tracking within the protection zone and insights from the reserve’s anti-poaching unit. This experience costs US$600 (approximately R9,983) per person, with US$340 contributing directly to reserve management essentials like fence maintenance and anti-poaching operations. Advance booking is necessary.
