Shipley’s Garment Spa, a cherished laundry and dry cleaning service in downtown Sioux Falls, will close its doors for good after over a century of operation. The owners, Gerry and Susie Wingler, announced that the last day of production will be October 22, 2026.
The decision to close was challenging and influenced by health issues, economic struggles, changes in the industry, and a shortage of employees. Founded in 1902, Shipley’s is one of the oldest businesses in the area, known for its deep-rooted ties to the community and commitment to customer care.
Customers are encouraged to drop off items for cleaning by the deadline, and the office will remain open for pickups until November 6, though route services have ceased. The Winglers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community for their support over the years.
