Ross Kemp’s ‘smart’ strategy in Celebrity Traitors could have unintended consequences.

In the second season of Celebrity Traitors, Ross Kemp has emerged as a standout character, captivating viewers with his comedic paranoia. In the early episodes, he hilariously believed that fellow contestant Bella Ramsey marked him for death by placing a hat on his head. His antics didn’t stop there; Kemp confronted Leigh-Anne Pinnock after she playfully rubbed his arm, demonstrating his intense suspicion.

Despite the innocent nature of these interactions, Ross’s paranoia quickly escalated. He dramatically expressed to others that he felt he was in grave danger, raising eyebrows when he was chosen by the true Traitors—Richard E. Grant, Maya Jama, and James Acaster—to stay above ground while others faced a challenge that involved being buried alive.

Kemp later reflected on the situation, noting, “You don’t want to be too obviously faithful right now, because they’ll come for you.” This strategic thinking might backfire as his behavior could make him a target for suspicion among his peers.

Amol Rajan, the first contestant to be eliminated, humorously described Kemp as a “walking and talking festival of paranoia,” suggesting that his experiences in war zones could explain his constant fear of being targeted. As the season progresses, Ross’s overactive imagination could lead to his downfall, with the latest episode ending on a cliffhanger that leaves viewers eager to see if he can navigate the scrutiny he’s attracted.

Celebrity Traitors airs Thursdays at 8 PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
