Tragic Accident at Faulkner Hospital
A woman sitting on a bench outside Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, Boston, was fatally struck by an SUV that crashed into the hospital building on Thursday around 10:45 a.m. The vehicle collided with the Belkin House, which houses a dialysis center, and also hit a gas line.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the woman was taken to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead. The two individuals inside the SUV sustained minor injuries. Boston Police Superintendent Paul McLaughlin stated that preliminary investigations indicate that the incident was not intentional, describing it as “a very tragic situation.”
Additionally, the crash prompted the evacuation of 32 people, including 17 patients and 15 staff members, as National Grid crews worked on the gas line. Fortunately, all evacuated individuals were reported safe.
In response to the incident, Faulkner Hospital issued a statement expressing condolences and gratitude to the emergency teams for their swift actions. While the Belkin House will be closed for repairs, the hospital itself remains operational, redirecting affected patients to alternative clinics.
This unsettling event has left the community mourning and raises awareness about safety protocols in public spaces.
