Disney Currently Not Acquiring Epic Games, Yet Aiming for More Collaborations

Disney and Epic Games are not pursuing a full buyout, but they have plans for future collaborations to showcase their partnership. Disney previously invested $1.5 billion for a 9% stake in Epic Games, aiming to create an entertainment universe linked to Fortnite.

Dana Walden, Disney’s President & Chief Creative Officer, clarified that buying Epic is off the table, stating, “Those are not the conversations we’re having right now.” However, she mentioned exciting upcoming collaborations over the next two years.

Disney has a rich history of collaborations with Fortnite, incorporating iconic characters from franchises like The Incredibles, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Marvel. The upcoming Chapter 8, launching in December, may tie into the Avengers: Doomsday event, promising more significant tie-ins in the future.

For fans, Disney’s extensive release schedule opens up even more possibilities for future Fortnite collaborations. What Disney characters would you like to see in the game? Join the discussion on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
