JJ Peterka and the Bruins Set to Battle the Jets Without Connor Hellebuyck

The Boston Bruins made a strategic offseason move to enhance their forward lineup by acquiring winger JJ Peterka in a trade with the Utah Mammoth. After just one game in the season, Peterka showcased his potential by scoring a goal in the Bruins’ 3-0 victory against the New York Rangers, impressing both fans and management.

At 24, Peterka has transitioned from the Buffalo Sabres to the Mammoth before making his way to Boston. His goal—an agile play where he maneuvered past defenseman Braden Schneider—helped solidify his role on the team.

Bruins coach Marco Sturm praised Peterka’s performance, noting the pressure of being a newcomer and the excitement of scoring at a pivotal moment. Initially slated for a second-line role, Peterka found himself on the top line alongside Elias Lindholm and David Pastrnak, where he expressed enthusiasm for their chemistry.

Looking ahead, the Bruins will face the Winnipeg Jets, who will begin the season without veteran goalie Connor Hellebuyck, suspended for not attending training camp after requesting a trade. Stuart Skinner steps in as the starting goalie, eager to prove himself after a solid preseason performance. The Jets are excited about Skinner’s work ethic and collaborative spirit as they move forward in the season.
