Knott County Trail Ride Celebrates 20 Years

KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – Riders from across the nation are gathering in Knott County for the biannual Knott County Trail Ride, marking its 20th anniversary this weekend.

As of Thursday, more than 2,000 visitors had already arrived, according to Knott County Tourism organizers. Executive Director Logan Smith noted, “We are in our 20th year of the Knott County Trail Ride. So far we’ve had close to a record number of people.”

For a fee of $30, participants can bring campers and horses to Mine Made Adventure, enjoying access to riding trails, live music, and food through Sunday.

Smith emphasized the family-friendly atmosphere, stating, “We’ve got something for everybody—things for kids and adults alike. We love welcoming people from all over the country to our community.”

The event draws riders from as far as Colorado, with newcomers like Cheryl Uderitz and Desiree Hubert driving nine hours from South Carolina. They shared their positive first impressions: “The people here are very sweet. Very nice!”

Beyond ticket sales, the event significantly benefits local businesses and the economy. Smith highlighted, “They’re not only paying to get in; they’re shopping locally, staying locally, and buying gas locally. It helps the economy all over.”

The entertainment lineup includes last season’s American Idol winner, Hannah Harper, performing Friday at 8:15 p.m., followed by Eddie Montgomery on Saturday at 9 p.m.

The event wraps up Sunday evening, with free admission for children 12 and younger. Note that for safety reasons, side-by-sides and ATVs are not allowed, but personal vehicles and golf carts can be used.
