Tragic Accident in Jamaica Plain
BOSTON — A tragic accident occurred Thursday morning in Jamaica Plain, resulting in the death of one individual who was struck by a vehicle. The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. when the car hit a person sitting on a bench outside Faulkner Hospital before crashing into the hospital’s Belkin House, causing a gas line rupture and leading to significant traffic disruptions in the area.
Officials report that two occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was not intentional but a tragic accident, as confirmed by Boston Police Superintendent Paul McLaughlin.
The Belkin House was evacuated as a safety precaution. A Mass General Brigham spokesperson stated that the main hospital building remains safe and operational, though traffic is impacted due to the emergency response.
Eversource is currently addressing the ruptured gas line, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. It remains unclear whether the driver will face any charges.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
