October Artist Showcase at Sonoma Valley Library Featuring Carol Kelley
The Sonoma Valley Library will highlight local artist Carol Kelley for its October Artist Showcase. The exhibit titled “Images from the Reverie: Soul Travel of the Modern Woman” is inspired by Kelley’s experiences during Jungian-based therapy and explores the connection between the conscious and unconscious mind.
Reception Details
- Date: Friday, Oct. 9
- Time: 4 to 5:30 p.m.
- Location: Forum Room at Sonoma Valley Library, 755 W. Napa St., Sonoma
Kelley expressed her excitement about showcasing her work, stating, “I’ve had a lot of fun with this… I thought it’s a big part of who I am and I might as well take it out of the closet and show it.”
Many pieces in the exhibit were created using her non-dominant hand, inspired by her therapy sessions. Kelley reports that she produced over 100 watercolors during this creative process, some of which were transformed into fabric art.
With a career spanning approximately 50 years, Kelley has an extensive portfolio, including public art projects such as:
- A 12-foot mural of Portugal
- Fireplace artwork at LaSalette restaurant
- A large mosaic lamp previously showcased at Breakaway Café
Don’t miss the chance to see her work displayed throughout October!
