Northeast Natural Energy Partners with The SOURCE Foundation
GRANVILLE, W.Va. – A local energy company, Northeast Natural Energy, has teamed up with The SOURCE Foundation, a Monongalia County nonprofit dedicated to providing vital services to community members in need.
On Wednesday, Northeast Natural Energy’s Vice President of Finance, Sam Sommerville, presented a check for $324,412 to The SOURCE Foundation at the City Crane and Equipment facility in Granville. This substantial donation was generated through their annual golf outing at Pines Country Club, with participants selecting The SOURCE as the beneficiary.
“We’ve looked at several organizations, and we felt The SOURCE was impressive in its impact on the local community,” Sommerville shared, highlighting their commitment to making a meaningful difference.
The donation will support various initiatives, including a weekend lunch bag program benefiting eight schools in Monongalia County, which currently serves over 600 children annually. Pastor Kevin Cain, founder of The SOURCE Foundation, noted their plans to expand this program to reach over 700 students.
In addition to the lunch program, the funds will also back before- and after-school programs, along with “The Way,” a spiritual initiative for all ages. Moreover, The SOURCE Foundation is gearing up to launch an affordable housing project in Westover aimed at young couples.
“Our young couples group, aged 25 to 35, will teach essential household skills,” Cain explained, emphasizing plans for revitalization efforts in Westover, including the development of housing on a currently dilapidated city block.
For Northeast Natural Energy, the decision to support The SOURCE reflects their dedication to community engagement, backed by a network of volunteers committed to serving the area.
“Investing in the communities where we operate is crucial,” Sommerville stated, expressing excitement about the partnership with The SOURCE Foundation and their impactful programs.
