LG Innotek has reported a significant rebound in its first-half earnings, with operating profit nearly quadrupling to $401.96 million and revenue increasing by 24% to $8.22 billion. This growth is attributed to an expanded focus beyond mobile camera modules, particularly into semiconductor substrates and autonomous driving sensors, which include cameras, lidar, and radar.
The company’s 296% profit increase marks its best first-half performance since 2022, despite typically being a quieter period. LG Innotek started high-volume production of substrates for PC processors in Q3, contributing to this success.
In the automotive sector, strategic partnerships formed in March 2026 with companies like Applied Intuition aim to leverage the combination of cameras, lidar, and radar, allowing automakers to consolidate their sourcing from a single supplier.
Additionally, LG Innotek launched robotics sales in 2026, producing camera modules for humanoid robots at its Paju facility, and has established agreements for robot components and sensing modules with firms like Boston Dynamics and TDK.
The company is targeting $5.94 billion in revenue from new businesses, including substrates and physical AI, by 2030, aiming for those sectors to contribute 25% of total revenue. Its package solution unit is expected to achieve $743 million in operating profit by 2031.
