As Wintersville sees an influx of new businesses, village leaders are evaluating the implications for its water and sewer infrastructure. Village Administrator Jesse Kosegi noted that they conduct a review every five years to assess the condition and needs of these systems.
Kosegi stated, “We have an asset management plan for both water and sewer to update our projects and requirements.” The village will prioritize areas needing immediate attention but acknowledges that some infrastructure dates back to 1955, making improvements a long-term commitment.
“This will be a 20-25 year project to upgrade our water lines,” Kosegi explained. With 26 miles of sewer lines, the process is costly and time-consuming, but regular maintenance can prevent the need for extensive replacements. Officials are confident that the current system can meet existing demands while preparing for future growth.
