Two fatalities and five injuries in multi-car accident in Oxnard – NBC Los Angeles

Two people died and several were injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving eight vehicles in Oxnard on Friday afternoon, according to officials. The accident occurred at the intersection of Victoria and Doris avenues around 4 p.m. Details leading up to the crash are still under investigation.

The Ventura County Fire Department reported that two drivers died on the scene and four others were transported to the hospital, with injuries ranging from serious to minor. One additional person declined medical transport.

Oxnard police indicated that the driver of a pickup truck, who was hospitalized and suspected of being impaired by alcohol or drugs, was reportedly speeding before colliding with two other vehicles, which then caused a chain reaction with several more vehicles.

As police continue their investigation, Victoria Avenue was expected to remain closed in both directions for at least two hours. Uncertainties remain about any potential arrests related to the incident.
