“Owlright, Owlright, Owlright”: Tune in for Rocket Lab’s launch of a private Japanese radar satellite this evening!

Rocket Lab is all set for tonight’s launch of a Strix satellite for the Japanese company Synspective, titled “Owlright, Owlright, Owlright.” The launch is scheduled for September 25 at 8:15 p.m. EDT from Pad B at Rocket Lab’s Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand. This mission will mark the 13th Strix satellite delivered for Synspective, which aims to establish a constellation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites for urban management and disaster response.

The launch will be streamed live on Space.com and Rocket Lab’s website about 30 minutes prior to liftoff. This mission will be Rocket Lab’s overall 96th launch, contributing to a total of 15 Electron launches in 2026 alone.

The Electron rocket, which stands 59 feet tall and can carry payloads up to 661 pounds (300 kg) to low Earth orbit (LEO), is tasked with launching the Strix satellite weighing approximately 220 pounds (100 kg). Each Strix satellite is designed to collect Earth imagery even in low light and through cloud cover.

Tonight’s payload will be positioned in a 37-degree orbital inclination at an altitude of 347 miles (559 kilometers).
