Western Ranch Motor Inn is selling its business; bar and restaurant will shut down for long-term stay initiative.

The restaurant and bar at the Western Ranch Motor Inn in Geddes, N.Y., will close on October 27, as the owner, Wally Gaworecki, sold the business to a friend. The new owner plans to transform the inn into an independent extended-stay facility, without the dining and bar service, but intends to enhance the property.

Gaworecki expressed confidence in the new management and reflected on the fond memories from the inn, especially relating to guests attending events like the Great New York State Fair and the Syracuse Nationals Car Show. Noteworthy entertainers, including Whitney Houston, Three Dog Night, and Alabama, stayed at the inn, with Houston visiting for the fair in 1986.

In the closing weeks, customer appreciation events will occur starting October 8, featuring bands that have performed over the decades. Guests can also purchase memorabilia from the inn, which includes sports items and local artifacts. After closing, Gaworecki will work as an advisor at Wally’s Belvedere nearby. The Western Ranch Motor Inn opened its doors on October 6, 1981.
