Williamson County officials are implementing a reorganization of several departments to address overcrowding in county facilities, as announced by County Manager Rebecca Clemons at a Commissioners Court meeting on Sept. 22.
Key Changes
- Relocation of IT Department: The majority of the Information Technology Department will move from the Inner Loop Annex to the former Georgetown Tax Office.
- Repurposing Space: This move aims to free up space for the Election and Adult Probation departments. The Adult Probation Department is expected to hire two new staff members as a result.
- Sheriff’s Office Reorganization: The Sheriff’s Office will also be restructured to create space for a future Medical Examiner’s Office, relocating employees to the front of the complex.
Background
Several county departments had recently moved to a new Administration Building, which opened in July, allowing for these current changes. The county has been actively working on department relocations since October 2025 to manage growing governmental operations.
Next Steps
The Commissioners unanimously approved the relocation plan. Facilities staff will begin minor modifications immediately. Once the spaces are vacated, they will collaborate with department heads to finalize and review plans.
