Diodes Incorporated Launches New Family of Automotive-Compliant Super Barrier Rectifiers
Diodes Incorporated has introduced a new line of automotive-compliant field-plated Super Barrier Rectifier (SBRFP) products.
Product Overview
The new devices include:
- 2A models: SBRFP2M60P1Q and SBRFP2M60SAFQ
- 3A model: SBRFP3M60SAFQ
- 8A model: SBRFP8A60P5Q
These components are designed as drop-in replacements for comparable Schottky and PN junction diodes.
Key Features
The SBRFP family boasts:
- Ultra-low Forward Voltage (VF): Reduces conduction losses.
- Low Reverse Leakage Current (IR): Enhances reliability and efficiency in applications like:
- DC-DC converters
- Reverse-polarity protection (RPP)
- Battery charging systems
- Automotive LED lighting
- Transmission control systems
Unique Technology
Diodes’ patented SBRFP technology utilizes a metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) manufacturing process, effectively addressing the limitations associated with traditional Schottky and PN junction diodes.
Performance Highlights
- SBRFP8A60P5Q: Features the industry’s lowest maximum forward voltage of 0.55V at 8A.
- Leakage Performance:
- SBRFP2M60P1Q: 12µA maximum at 25°C
- SBRFP3M60SAFQ: 7µA maximum at 125°C
- Avalanche Energy Ratings: Up to 145mJ, enabling the rectifiers to withstand common automotive challenges such as surge events and load dumps.
This avalanche capability is reported to be five to ten times greater than that of conventional Schottky rectifiers, thereby enhancing overall system robustness.
Packaging and Environment Compatibility
The SBRFP products are available in several packages, including:
- PowerDI123: (SBRFP2M60P1Q)
- PowerDI5: (SBRFP8A60P5Q)
- SMAF: (SBRFP2M60SAFQ and SBRFP3M60SAFQ)
They are also capable of stable operation across a junction temperature range of -55°C to +175°C, making them ideal for harsh automotive environments.
