A significant number of Iranians from Northern Virginia attended the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, among them Shirin Nariman from Vienna. She expressed a strong sentiment of anger and frustration towards the current Iranian regime, stating, “We know people are angry, people are fed up with this regime and the next uprising is on the horizon.” Nariman, a supporter of the National Council of Iran Resistance, holds hope that the demise of the Ayatollah and his advisors will lead to democracy in Iran.
At the UN, she joined a large group waving Iranian flags and holding signs, including one that read, “Expect Iran’s Regime from the UN.” Nariman emphasized her opposition to both war and appeasement of the Iranian regime, underscoring her commitment to being a voice for the Iranian people.
Current U.S.-Iran negotiations remain stagnant, as noted by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, coinciding with the UNGA meetings in New York.
