China-Russia Space Program Launches for Youth in Southeast Asia at Malaysian Camp

A collaborative effort is underway to establish an international youth space camp involving a Russian astronaut trainer, Chinese educators, and Malaysian partners. Set to take place in Penang’s rainforest eco-park by late 2027, the week-long program aims to inspire young people from the region to pursue careers in space and science through immersive activities and ethical education.

Described as an initiative in “people’s diplomacy” by Russian astronaut trainer Timofey Egorov, the camp is designed for children ages 7 to 17. Egorov, who works at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre, highlighted the longstanding tradition of youth space camps in Russia at a recent conference in Penang, known for its cultural diversity.
