The Wall Street Journal reports that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is reallocating approximately $12 million from its Office of Minority Health to cover the rising security costs for RFK Jr. This decision comes despite the HHS secretary having access to discretionary funds that could have been used for this purpose.
In response, Brad Woodhouse, president of Protect Our Care, criticized the move, stating, “Secretary Kennedy didn’t need to rob health resources from the most vulnerable, but he did it anyway for his own benefit.” He pointed out that funds are readily available for RFK Jr.’s personal ventures, such as military travel and promotional projects, while essential resources meant to address health disparities in underserved communities are being diverted. Woodhouse further highlighted a pattern where the Trump administration has historically cut resources from marginalized groups for its own benefit, while protecting funding for its own interests and projects.
