Indiana University Kelley School of Business Achieves Record Ranking
U.S. News & World Report has released its 2027 college rankings, and the Indiana University Kelley School of Business has achieved a remarkable sixth place among all business schools—its highest ranking to date.
The IU Bloomington campus remains at No. 73 among over 400 national universities and has moved up to No. 32 in the public schools category.
Ranking Criteria
According to U.S. News, the rankings are based on peer assessments, graduation rates, and first-year retention rates, utilizing data from surveys and government sources.
This year, a new factor called “Earnings by Major” was introduced, which assesses graduates’ earnings four years after graduation. This metric replaces the outdated “Graduate Indebtedness” factor amid growing public concerns about education affordability and value.
Kelley’s Performance
Kelley shares its sixth-place ranking with Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and The University of Texas at Austin. It retains its status as the top business school in Indiana and ranks third among public university programs. Kelley’s Undergraduate Program has consistently been in U.S. News’ top 10 for six years.
Dean Patrick E. Hopkins expressed gratitude for the hard work of faculty, staff, and global partners, emphasizing the commitment reflected in the program’s strong performance.
Specialty Program Rankings
Ten specialty programs at Kelley are ranked in the top 15, with eight programs—including marketing, accounting, and management information systems—ranking in the top 10.
